DIY Maxi Skirt

I recently purchased a very soft fabric from one of my favorite online fabric stores.
It was a four-way stretch knit made of 96% rayon/4% lycra. Unlike other lightweight rayon fabrics, this one was not so sheer making it perfect for a maxi skirt.

I initially thought of using McCalls pattern 6654
Line Art
to make an A-line long skirt but decided to go with a yoga skirt following

Only two measurements were needed (waistline and desired length) to create this full length gathered skirt with foldover waistband.

Serger used to sew seams on skirt and waistband.

Attaching skirt to waistband.

The foldover waistband allows me to wear the skirt with platform heels or flats.

The top paired with the skirt was constructed using Jalie pattern 2005 featured in this post.
